Call for Application for Dual-degree Program between NCCU and University of South Carolina

The 2023 Spring dual-degree program between NCCU (College of Communication) and the University of South Carolina (School of Journalism and Mass Communications) is now open for application.


Eligibility: Master’s students in the NCCU College of Communication.

Application Deadline: via email by 5 p.m., October 14th, 2022 (Taipei time) for Spring ’23 admission.

Application Documents to be Submitted to NCCU:

1. Résumé (CV).

2. Statement of objectives, explaining why you are applying.

3. Official academic transcripts of undergraduate and graduate studies.

4. Three recommendation letters in English.

5. English language test scores of TOEFL, IELTS, or the equivalent. This may be waived if the applicant is a native English speaker.

6. GRE test results. This may be waived if the applicant has taken 12 credits of graduate-level IMICS courses with a minimum GPA of 3.0 a B grade.

7. Portfolio of professional works or writings (optional - if available).

1. Submit an online application at USC’s website.


About the NCCU – University of South Carolina Dual Degree Program


In the dual degree program, students are required to earn 36 credits for USC’s Master of Mass Communication (MMC) degree, or 32 credits for USC’s Master of Arts (MA) degree. Students are required to earn a minimum of 12 credits from NCCU. While attending USC, students pay tuition fees to both universities, including the in-state tuition at USC.


USC Degree Requirements


USC requires MMC students to pass a comprehensive exam and complete a practicum/internship.

USC requires MA students to take 6 credits of thesis, pass a comprehensive exam, and pass an oral defense of the thesis.
