[News] IMICS Orientation 2026: welcome new students to IMICS family!

On September 7, the International Master's Program in International Communication Studies (IMICS) organized an orientation day to welcome new students from around the world to NCCU. The session provided students with a comprehensive understanding of IMICS, highlighting its vibrant multicultural environment, academic excellence, and opportunities for bonding with fellow newcomers.

Professor Hsiu-Hui Sun, Dean of the College of Communication, offered encouraging words before the start of the school year. Program Director, Professor I-Huei Cheng, delivered a speech detailing the history and significant highlights of IMICS. The program is portrayed not only as communication-focused but also as one that merges cross-cultural exchange with rigorous education.

During the orientation, students gained insight into the diverse academic environment, spanning various fields, media, and platforms through introductions from core faculty members.

Senior students, who are familiar with life at NCCU, shared their academic and daily life experiences, fostering a motivational atmosphere among peers. A significant highlight is that IMICS offers international opportunities, such as dual-degree programs with the University of South Carolina, exchange programs with Michigan State University, and numerous international conferences and symposia, which allow students to learn and expand their global networks.

To foster connection and bridge the distance among newcomers, a quick introduction session was hosted, where every IMICS student gave a brief introduction.

The orientation is an annual event that marks the beginning of a new chapter for both students and IMICS, bringing together people from around the globe, providing essential information, and helping peers form lasting bonds.
