I graduated in Journalism and Sociology at Masaryk University. During my studies I spend one semester at Hong Kong Baptist University and Ilmenau University of Technology in Germany.

I have worked as freelance journalist and photographer, my articles and photographs have been published in national and international media outlets (including the cover page of Come To Nigeria Magazine). You can visit my portfolio at www.veronika-tomanova.com.

Near the end of 2011 I was sent by Deutsche Welle to Jos, Nigeria, in order to cover the topic of Millenium Development Goals. My photographs from Nigeria were displayed in June 2012. Additional pictures, blog posts and videos created in Nigeria were used for founding the initiative CzechNigeria.com which aims at improving Nigeria's international image.

Furthermore, I have experience in the field of videography. One of my the pieces documenting volunteers who take care of seeing-eye dogs has been awarded by NGO Adra (one of the biggest NGOs in Czech Republic).

Currently, I am working on a new travel blog: VeronikasAdveture.com. It is a platform where you can read about Taiwan from the point of view of a foreigner. You can subscribe to get updates sent to your mail box or via Facebook. See you there!

I am interested in digital photography, web design and multimedia as well as their impact on online-recipients. Furthermore, I would like to find out more about the image of developing countries in the media.

I am ready to gain experience in the field of travel journalism and development journalism soon.

Alexandria Therese Dee

As to what I plan to do after I finish my Master’s degree, I am still weighing my options. But if I had it my way, I would be a writer/correspondent for Discovery Channel or Reader’s Digest and a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.
